We acknowledge that we are gathered on the traditional and unceded territories of Indigenous Peoples across Canada. Each province and territory is home to diverse First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities, each with their own rich histories, cultures, and languages.
We recognize that the land on which we meet has been cared for by Indigenous Peoples for thousands of years, and we honor their enduring connection to it. We also acknowledge the historical injustices and ongoing impacts of colonization that continue to affect Indigenous communities today.
We understand that this land acknowledgment is just a first step. We pledge to take action to foster and build sustainable and genuine relationships with Indigenous communities through our five-year and continuous strategic plan, as well as through our core programming, especially focused on Indigenous populations.
As we gather here, let us commit to fostering respectful relationships, learning from Indigenous wisdom, and supporting their rights and sovereignty. We encourage everyone to reflect on how we can contribute to reconciliation and create a future that honors the past and respects the diverse cultures that enrich our nation.
